Mr. Verdon, Teacher, Grades 3-5

Meet Jim Verdon

3-5 Math Teacher

My name is James Verdon and I am presently the math teacher for grades 3-5. In the past years I have taught both 5th and 6th grade. This is my 24th year here at CS.

Even as a child I thought that being a teacher seemed like a fun thing to do. So many of my teachers were encouraging and full of enthusiasm that I wanted to emulate that. Coming to school every morning is a joy.  The children teach me so much. They forgive without question, they share without being told, they live in the present and accept change, and they focus on the positive. We should all be so wise as a child.

Learning the basics is huge in the primary grades. We play subtraction bingo, multiplication bingo and other fun learning games in math class. However, I feel that sharing my own life experiences (good, bad, funny or sad) with the children helps them create a better perspective on life.

I am married to a wonderful woman. My wife Kim is an accountant with Parker-Hannifan. My son Cory is working on his Bachelor’s Degree at Ferris State. My daughter Holly is a fifth grade teacher in Gilbert, AZ.
