Bailee Orman, Tanner Graham Are C-S Athletic Booster Scholar-Athlete Recipients
Bailee Orman and Tanner Graham have been selected as the Climax-Scotts Athletic Boosters’ 2011 Scholar-Athlete recipients.
The 2011 C-S High School graduates will each receive $350 scholarships from the Athletic Boosters. The two seniors will also receive a plaque in recognition of the scholarship.
Johanna Nabozny of the C-S Athletic Boosters said numerous seniors qualified for the scholarships, but four females and two males submitted forms to be considered.
The applications are given to the Athletic Boosters Committee without names. The Athletic Boosters Committee consists of the President, another officer and a member at large. They rank the eligible applicants one through the number applying, with one being the lowest, then multiply by the weighting factor.
There are three categories that are considered during the selection process, including academics (3.0 GPA, that weighs 30 percent), athletic participation (two varsity certificates, that weighs 40 percent) and leadership (holding an office in at least one school related group or has demonstrated leadership quality in a youth athletic program, that weighs 30 percent).
Bailee plans to attend Grand Valley State University and Tanner plans to attend Kalamazoo Valley Community College.
The Climax-Scotts Athletic Boosters meet on the 4th Sunday of every month at 7:00 pm in the Superintendent's Office and ALL are welcome to attend.

At Climax-Scotts Schools, our Athletic Boosters strive to make sure all students have the ability to participate in a sport, are part of team, represent our community, and have the necessary facilities and equipment available to them. We believe school athletics promotes citizenship and sportsmanship among its student athletes. Athletics instills a sense of community pride, teaches lifelong lessons of teamwork and self-discipline, and facilitates physical and emotional development. The benefits of school athletics are many. Students learn self-discipline, build self-confidence and develop skills to handle competitive situations. Students participating in high school extra-curricular activities tend to make higher grades and have better attendance. Co-curricular activities foster success in later life such as in college, in their career and in becoming a contributing member of society.
We encourage parents, coaches, and the community to become involved. Meetings are held on the 4th Sunday of every month at 7:00 pm in the Superintendent's Office.
With our various fundraisers we’ve been able to provide continued support for a number of Climax-Scotts athletic programs and projects. Some of the more notable contributions over the last 10 years have been as follows:
• Track Resurfacing
• Scholar Athlete Award for a college-bound Senior
• Marquee
• Gym Lighting
• Gymnasium Padding System
• Football Rain Train
• Baseball Sprinkler System
• Girls and Boys Basketball Warm Ups
• Volleyball System
• Baseball and Softball infield mix
• Softball Dugouts
• Athletic Hall of Fame
